The Synapse GQ-7 rack extension is designed as a professional mixing and mastering equalizer, offering five bands with high-quality parametric and shelving EQs, plus two additional low- and high cut filters. The GQ-7 is suitable for a broad spectrum of tasks - whether you need an equalizer to mix instrument tracks, remove problem frequencies in your master with great precision, or get rid of the mic rumble in recordings, the GQ-7 does it all, while delivering superior results.
Editing in the GQ-7 can be performed both via knobs, as well as via the interactive graphical display with zoom controls, providing an effective and intuitive work flow.
The five EQ bands available feature adjustable gain, frequency and Q, and can be toggled between Peaking and Shelf types. The low-cut and high-cut filters offer a variety of modes with slopes ranging from 12dB to 96 dB per octave, approaching a brick-wall response – indispensable tools for mixing and mastering.
All filters in the GQ-7 are designed to handle modulation without artifacts, such that the EQ can be used for creative purposes too, well outside the realm of traditional EQ applications. Especially the steep low- and high cut filters are well suited for creative purposes- their unique sound offers a great alternative to the typical sound of standard low- and high pass filters known from synthesizers.
The Auto-gain compensation feature makes an educated guess of the volume difference before and after equalization, based on the current EQ settings. This will speed up the work flow tremendously, reducing the need to adjust the volume knob manually in order to compare the processed and unprocessed audio.
If you want to hear just the dry audio, the innovative Send Mode feature removes the dry signal from the output completely, allowing you to process the wet EQ signal separately from the input. This mode can also be used to find problem frequencies in a mix.
