A SWITCH BOARD FOR CONTROL VOLTAGES
The Mesher4B is basically a switch board of 4 by 4 buttons. On the input side there are four separate inputs, each with its own gain and shift knobs. The signals are connected to the switch board, where you can quickly select to which of the four outputs you want to send the signal. Each output has an additional gain knob before feeding the sockets.
THEN PLAY ON!
You can freely experiment with your connections, using the gain and shift knobs to achieve precise settings. Gain is adjustable between -2 and +2, while Shift adds a fixed voltage between -1V and +1V. The shift value is shown as note values (-127 to +127) to make it easy to shift note CV.
Input signals connected to the same output are added, so you can combine inputs in a ‘merge’ fashion. Similarly you can connect one input to any number of the outputs. When you find a combination you like, save it to a patch for future use!
USE EXTERNAL CV TO SWITCH
Every node in the mesh, as well as every gain and shift knob, has a modulation socket on the back panel. You can use these to switch connections in sync with other actions, and switch several buttons simultaneously to fine tune the result.
And of course you can use Mesher outputs to control its internal switches. Complicating connection setups can sometimes lead to pleasant surprises! By combining several Meshers, and using trigger devices like the MidiTapper, the options are endless.
SOME ADDITIONAL FEATURES
Additional features include:
- Input and output tags. Very useful with saved patches.
- Optionally quantize signal levels to note or gate standard (0-127).
- Use ‘n’ or ‘g’ as first letter of tag to quantize and clamp any input or output.
- Color coded cable indicator lamps show which sockets are used.
- Plenty of meters and lamps for indication of signal levels.
Product page at hamu.se will provide more details.
The video on the side presents details of how a setup with several HaMu devices can be used to add functionality to a single, simple midi keyboard. Several Mesher units are included.
